Two Cute Little Girls

Labor Day Rod and Michelle came to visit. Of course the guys went hunting and we enjoyed the family. Here are the two cutest new little ones to the family.

Happy Birthday Erin

Oct 2 was Erin's birthday and since we were heding to Kansas I wanted a recent picture of their family so here's the birthday girl with the family.

Dad's New Toy

Yes we sold the two four wheelers and bought this rather the dealer gave us this and $250.00 wow that doesn't happen very often. It is great too. We call it our Litttle Miss Daisy.

A beautiful Memory

After leaving Kansas 8 years ago we said we would never go back. Well this October Larry and I both felt strongly it was time to return. Larry a little more reluctant but was so excited we went. We had a wonderful time visiting his sisters and their families. Larry also met up with a friend from Vietnam and we had dinner with he and his wife it was great meeting them. Here are a few snapshots of our trip.

Shawn Baseball Game

16th Grandchild has arrived!

I am finally going back to work after being off for two months. Yes I am walking but not very quickly and not very steady. Anyway before I went back Larry and I decided to go to Montana this weekend to see Rod, Michelle and Shawn and hoping their little girl would arrive before I went back to work. I told them when we arrived that i brought labor pains with me. On Friday we took Michelle over to Bozeman to her doctor appt and they decided to put her in the hospital and get things started, well by Saturday she had only dilated to a 4 so the doctor decided to do a c-section so on 5-7-11 at 7:58pm Mikayla Marie Head arrived weighing 7lbs 1 oz and 21 inches long and she has Michelle's beautiful brown eyes and Rod's nose and mouth and lots of black curly hair. Here are some photos for those who want to see her. Mom won't be out of the hospital until Tuesday and will do a better job at putting her pictures on. These are just a few of what I was able to take. We couldn't be more proud to have such a wonderful Mother's day gift. Yes Shawn Grandma won the bet she came on the 7th instead of the 8th. Mircles do come true.

Easter 2011

Here are a few photo's from Easter. We also attended the Ward Easter Egg hunt and dinner.

The Lessons I am Learning

Well it has been 5 weeks now since surgery and 6 since I broke my ankle and life is still good. I sure have been wondering over the past few weeks what lesson should I be learning from all of this. What a challenge this has been to learn to have to rely on others for everything I do. I can't drive, I can't walk, my foot hasn't been on the ground at all except for when I fell. I have fallen three times and that isn't always fun. I am not supposed to be falling down at this age. I have learned alot of compassion for those who only have half a leg as I have crawled around on the floor on my knees to do things. I am not a very patient person and that has been the greatest lesson I am learning is to have patiences. I have learned when you don't have a schedule you don't even know what day it is let alone the date. Sleeping is a whole other story. I am like a newborn I don't know when to sleep and when to stay awake. I am usually awake all night at least 3 nights a week and then I will sleep for two hours the next day. The incisions are finally healing I think but my foot is in pain all the time now because the nerve ending are healing so my foot is tingling and throbbing all the time which the pain medicine doesn't even reach so I have stopped taking them which is good because my head is a little more clearer. My hips are sore from always having this leg evalated. All my muslces that I might have had at one time have all atrophied so now I have saggy legs. You know sitting for 24 hours and eating 3 meals a day and some snacks are not good for weight loss. I have been told I will never walk the same again, yes Mike I will have my little mark. I have been told it will be a year and I can still have swelling in my foot. I am learning that I will have to be more careful on stairs the next time and always hold on to the rail when going up or down it will help you from falling. I have done alot of soul searching as to the things that are important in this life. I have complete almost a full book of sudoku, read alot and worked on scrapbooking pictures on the computer. I have sewn some baby blankets for our two new granddaughters. My only fear is I will have to go back to work before they are born and I will not be able to take the time off to help. I think that is the hardest for me to learn is that I can't do everything that I want to do. This has been a great learning time for Larry and I to experience a little of 24/7 time that retirement for me will bring for us but I sure hope there will be alot more than just sitting and watching movies together and me wathching him clean our house and prepare meals I would like to help too. Breaking you ankle sure isn't somehting I would ever want to experience again or for any of my loved ones to ever have to face.
